One transformation has become a priority in the evaluation of organizations’ programs and companies. Beyond analyzing and assessing the current situation, what matters most today is improving it. The main way to move toward that goal is to identify the links between improvements or declines in outcomes and the actions that have been implemented.

The application of OAL in education is EOAL: Educational Outcome Action Linking. Standardized external assessments (such as PISA or national diagnostic tests) provide a snapshot of the situation. Although partial and imperfect, it is the best evidence currently available. What these assessments do not provide is the full story behind that single snapshot: how that situation came about, what factors contributed to it, and how it can be improved. To build that broader picture, it is necessary to identify the relationships between the results achieved by each school and the educational actions that have been implemented.

Teachers spend many hours preparing annual school reports. By including a short questionnaire on the educational actions implemented, one that can be completed in less than an hour, it would be possible to collect universal data that are easy and quick to process using the capabilities offered by artificial intelligence. If this brief questionnaire were standardized across as many education systems around the world as possible, it would become even easier and more reliable to identify the actions that improve educational outcomes in different contexts.

Through evaluation approaches such as EOAL, educational outcomes can be improved for all children, strengthening the effective realization of the right to education.
